Whether you are affected by bushfires, or anxious about being in a bushfire area. it’s important to have a simple toolkit for emotional first aid for bushfire season.
In this 1 hour, online workshop, we’ll cover herbs and hands-on strategies you can use to ease your worry or distress. This isn’t to bypass or ignore the stress and fear that accompany bushfires, but to learn to work with these emotions skillfully.
Herbs for emotional first aid for bushfire season
I’ll talk about what herbs we can use, as well as how to use them. I’ll mostly talk about herbs for emotional shock, distress, anxiety and worry around bushfire season, and being evacuated, but we can touch on herbs for bushfire smoke exposure as well.

Practical, body-based (somatic) tools for emotional first aid for bushfire season
My friend Nell, from Inner Well Counselling will walk us through a practical, body-based stress reduction technique to calm our amygdalas and regulate ourselves. These are tools we can use in the moment, or throughout bushfire season for ourselves or with our families. Nell’s awesome and she’s got a special interest in climate anxiety as well as supporting kids and teens.

You’ll leave this FREE online workshop feeling equipped and knowing what you can do to care for yourself and your family’s emotional health this bushfire season.

This session will run for an hour, and depending how we go for time, that hour will include time for questions, or we can run a bit over.
*NOTE – This is NOT around bushfire recovery. Whilst these herbs and strategies would be useful to you if you’ve been severely impacted by a bushfire event, this session can’t cater to the complex grief and emotional support that recovery can require. Nell will offer a discount on counselling for attendees who need more support in this area. This emotional first-aid session will be designed to be regulating, not triggering, and Nell will be focused on keeping the space feeling safe.
